108 children escaped the August 26, 1942 round-up of Vénissieux

On August 26, 1942, the Vichy regime ordered all foreign Jews in the region to be sent to Lyon for deportation. Contrary to the Vel d'Hiv round-up where all Jews were deported, 108 children were saved in Lyon thanks to the Christian friendship association, as René Nodot, resistance fighter and vice-president of the Rhône Licra, recalls.
