Switzerland: a historic neutrality

Switzerland: a historic neutrality

Subject devoted to the history of Swiss neutrality with the interview of Pierre EKLY, professor of law. Because of its geographical location, Switzerland has always been a place of passage for major military campaigns. To stop these passages, the European states gave Switzerland a neutral status by signing an international treaty in 1815. The recognition of Switzerland’s status is accepted worldwide. The Swiss confederation is also home to the major international organizations. Switzerland is not a member of the UN, the European Union or NATO.
