The appellation "Grand cru"

The appellation "Grand cru"

"A call grand cru defines the best wines of all regions of France...it’s the top of the basket". Mr Baltenweck, a wine grower in Alsace, is protesting against the new regulations governing the Grand Cru appellation. In Alsace, it is the tasting of wines that makes it possible to name a grand cru, unlike the other French regions, which are selected by the terroir. The current reform will delimit areas and thus go against the Alsatian tradition. The injury is therefore certain for the winegrowers.
