Au-delà du château d'Angers, il existe un patrimoine qui appartenait à l'ancienne cité médiévale de neuf hectares, aujourd'hui piétonne. Au n°17 de la rue Saint-Aignan, une vieille maison est à admirer, notamment son heurtoir (un sauvage nu).
