The Grau of the King: operation "Clean ports"

Every year, in the technical area of the marina of Port-Camargue au Grau-du-Roi, more than 5000 boats are maintained. But cleaning, repairing or painting is just as many solvents, glues or toxic or chemical products that escape into the harbour. Started several years ago by the municipality and the Region, the "Clean Ports" initiative aims to reduce these pollutions through specific equipment allowing the collection and treatment of waste (batteries, flares, oils). Drain pumps also treat wastewater and an intervention kit helps to limit accidental oil pollution. Thanks to these measures, 180 tonnes of waste were recovered in 2002.
