Some French marinas on the Mediterranean coast choose innovation for boaters. Electronic controls of energy expenditure, reduction of pollution through adapted equipment… Let us find in this file the example of Port-Camargue, the Grau du Roi and the nautical construction pole of Perpignan.
In the Grau-du-Roi, Port-Camargue, the second largest marina in the world, will equip itself with the "Smart Grid" network, a system designed to reduce the consumption of electricity by boaters and fight against waste. The principle is to install sensors on board the boats, which will send the consumption data to the harbour office via a smartphone application. This device is also envisaged in the long term for water consumption and intrusion detection.
Every year, in the technical area of the marina of Port-Camargue au Grau-du-Roi, more than 5000 boats are maintained. But cleaning, repairing or painting is just as many solvents, glues or toxic or chemical products that escape into the harbour. Started several years ago by the municipality and the Region, the "Clean Ports" initiative aims to reduce these pollutions through specific equipment allowing the collection and treatment of waste (batteries, flares, oils). Drain pumps also treat wastewater and an intervention kit helps to limit accidental oil pollution. Thanks to these measures, 180 tonnes of waste were recovered in 2002.
DATAR (Delegation for Spatial Planning and Regional Action) has awarded the label "Localized Production System" (SPL) to the Têt Méditerranée community project, Project to establish a technological centre for the construction of recreational boats in the Perpignan region. This future hub, which meets the growing demand for boats and catamarans, is expected to bring together 25 companies and create 500 jobs in the short term. Visit of two factories already present on the site, the craft sailing company TECHNIVOILE in Saint-Nazaire in the Eastern Pyrenees, and the second world manufacturer of catamarans CATANA in Canet-en-Roussillon.
