Canterbury: signature of the Franco-British tunnel construction treaty under the English Channel
François MITTERRAND and Margaret THATCHER signed the treaty on the construction and operation of a Transmanche fixed link in the Cathedral of Canterbury today in the presence of Roland DUMAS, French Foreign Minister, and his British counterpart, Geoffrey HOWE. Reading of the treaty by Margaret THATCHER followed by a statement by François MITTERRAND President of the French Republic.
