Les spécialistes mondiaux du nickel venus assister à la conférence internationale de Nouméa sont allés visiter l'usine pilote de Goro Nickel. C'est dans cette usine métallurgique que sont extraits le nickel et le cobalt de la latérite, grâce au procédé de lixiviation par acide sulfurique. Le commentaire sur des images du groupe d'experts et de l'usine alterne avec les interviews de Mickaël Frayne, directeur général des ressources d'Anaconda, et Jean-Paul Duterque, directeur adjoint de Goro Nickel.
