The crossing point between the Gaza Strip and Egypt has just reopened. The border is controlled by the Israeli army and since the intifada, it is very often closed. Israel’s blockade poses serious supply problems for the Palestinian territory. The economic situation is catastrophic, 60% of Gazans are unemployed. The survival of Palestinian families and trade depend heavily on trade with Egypt. The men fear to be blocked at the border, so it is the women, contrary to the custom, who go to refuel in Egypt. The journalist’s comments are punctuated by testimonies from Gazans.
