A few months after the creation of the Community by General de Gaulle, Pierre CORVAL took stock with some of the leaders of the Member States of the Community and Robert LECOURT, Minister of State for Cooperation with the States of the Community. Mr TSIRANANA pointed out that the Community as a whole represents 100 million people and thus constitutes a great power, a force for France. Mr. APITHY explained that the Community allows these Member States to gain autonomy, with the guarantee of aid from France.
