Several Member States of the European Union, including France, have decided to suspend their beef imports from Great Britain because of the risk of contamination of man with the so-called "mad cow" disease. In Brittany, the Vitré slaughterhouse, which is the largest in Europe, decided to establish a "meat of France" label.
