Michel Serres at the Académie Française

The philosopher Michel SERRES was elected on 29 March 1990 at the Académie Française in the chair of Edgar Faure . Interviewed at his home, he talks about his latest book "The Natural Contract", "a very open account of the relationship between man and the world, and the somewhat failed relationship between the power of our science and the fragility of nature". Concerning the emblem that will be affixed to his academic sword, this poses a problem for him because he claims to be pacifist and that the weapons frighten him...although he was champion of foil when he was young.
