Two hundred and ten French nuclear tests were conducted between 1960 and 1996, first in the Algerian desert and then in French Polynesia, sometimes in the greatest secrecy. With a combined power of about 13 megatonnes, they irradiated thousands of square kilometres. Impacted populations seeking justice and redress are having a hard time being heard.
