Le skipper français Charles Caudrelier, arrivé largement premier de l'avant-dernière étape de la Solitaire du Figaro, est en tête du classement général de la course. Etre le favori entraîne pour lui plus de pression, mais même s'il est peu connu du grand public, c'est un professionnel doté déjà d'un palmarès tout à fait honorable (notamment 3ème de l'édition 2002).
