Edouard Balladur announced yesterday that he would not be a candidate for the next legislative elections in 2007. The former minister indicated that he was withdrawing from political life but not from public life. Alongside his successor, Philippe GOUJON, he began his farewell tour on the Saint Charles market in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. He points out that he made his decision alone, without influence and does not pretend to serve as an example to anyone. For Philippe GOUJON, "a number of elected officials would be well advised to follow the advice and the example of Edouard Balladur".
