D-Day commemorations: tributes to American soldiers and Canadians
On the occasion of the commemorations of the Allied landing of June 6, 1944 in Normandy, summary of the tributes to the American and Canadian soldiers that took place during the day. French President François Mitterand visited several places and met American President Ronald REAGAN who gave a moving speech. Then Canadian Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau met up with the French president at the Bény-sur-Mer cemetery to pay tribute to the Canadian soldiers who died for France.
