Rudolf Nureyev evokes his passage to the west in 1961
Interviewed on stage by Hélène Vida, dancer and choreographer Rudolf Nureyev recalls why, during a Kirov tour in Paris in May 1961, he chose not to return to the Soviet Union. He explains that it is normal for an artist to want to travel and learn from other countries. The Soviet authorities, demanding to see him return earlier, then gave him the "final boost".
