François Mitterrand: sending an international contingent to Lebanon to ensure security and respect for human rights

The President of the French Republic, François Mitterrand, strongly deplores "the massacre of innocent Palestinians that upsets the universal conscience" (the first two words of his sentence are missing). Pending UN action, he announced the arrival within three days of an international contingent of soldiers in Lebanon, to which France would join. The purpose of this contingent is to "contribute to the return to safety and respect for people’s rights".
