Today was the ratification of the Channel Tunnel Treaty. During an official ceremony at the Elysée, President François Mitterrand received the British Prime Minister, Margaret Thatcher. They exchanged the instruments of ratification of the Channel Tunnel Treaty. Images of the ceremony, including an excerpt from the French statement by Margaret THATCHER announcing a common desire to set up high-speed train services that will operate between Paris and London from the day the tunnel opens.
