Après un extrait de l'émission "Cartes sur table" en 1980 avec Georges Marchais, quelques plans du journaliste animant son émission "Découvertes", il est interviewé sur cette nomination à la radio et sur son éventuelle regret de ne pas réintégrer la télévision. "Je suis fier de symboliser une forme de pluralisme et d'indépendance" déclare-t-il. Il ajoute "J'ai beaucoup d'amis à Antenne 2 et France 3... je n'accepterai pas à n'importe quel prix. Ce n'est que partie remise".
