Suite à l'assassinat à Magnanville (Yvelines) d'un couple de policiers, Jean-Baptiste Salvaing et sa compagne Jessica Schneider, par un terroriste ayant agi au nom de l'Etat islamique, le gouvernement a annoncé que les policiers pourront garder leur arme hors-service, et ce même après la fin de l'état d'urgence, instauré après les attentats du 13 novembre 2015.
