Commemorative plaque for the Vénissieux round-up following an act of vandalism
Last July, the commemorative plaque of the August 26, 1942 round-up of Vénissieux, organized by the Vichy government, was broken. Today, on this anniversary, a new commemorative plaque, funded by the Union of Jewish Students of France, was inaugurated. Yonathan Arfi, President of the Union of Jewish Students of France, says that the response to this act of vandalism was more than necessary and that a work of memory must continue especially among the younger generations.
