Agnès Varda: the awakening of the gaze of women filmmakers
Agnès VARDA recounts what underlies the feminist theme of her film "Cléo from 5 to 7": the awakening of the gaze. The trajectory of her main character reflects female emancipation, and the work of women filmmakers is part of this same approach. What is fundamental in the director’s eyes is the awakening of women. In the cinema, this translates to: "To be watched, to pass to watch. To be desired, to go on wanting. To be manipulated, to move to manipulate..."
