Jacqueline Audry’s first steps as a director in the 1940s

Jacqueline AUDRY tells Jean DANET how she became a filmmaker. After 25 films as a screenwriter with major names in cinema such as Max Ophuls, Marcel l'Herbier, Robert Sidomak, she was propelled to directing, to replace at the drop of a hat director Maurice Cloche on the shooting of "start from scratch". It was 1941, after the assistant director resigned. She is one of the few women to access this period to the profession of director, the one who has: "the right of life and death on everyone," she says laughing.
