Formed at the beginning of the 20th century around a core of survivors of Ottoman persecution, the community has its church, cultural and sports associations and schools. Descendants of the diaspora are committed to the preservation of Armenian language and cultural identity, and gather to commemorate the memory of the 1915 genocide.
