Waiting for the oil slick on the coast

The Erika sank on December 12, 1999 and oil slick: Total Fina’s chartered tanker, Erika, broke in two in the storm, some 50 kilometres from the Brittany point. Reporting in the coastal departments of Gironde, Charente-Maritime and Vendée, the first preparations are organized with the installation of beacons that will allow to fix floating dams in the event of an oil spill. These preventive measures at the entrance of the ports are part of the Polmar land plan. Interview with Olivier HAVAS, D.D.E. Head of Vendée Maritime Service.
