Debate on hospital reform: intervention by Nicolas Sarkozy
Reportage. The head of state Nicolas Sarkozy has been reassuring vis-à-vis hospital staff, who have been expressing their dissatisfaction for weeks regarding the law on the reform of hospitals. In a speech he held today at the presentation of the report of the Marescaux Commission on Hospital and University Centres (CHU), he said that no one wanted the hospital to become a business and announced that they wanted to counterbalance the power of directors by a collegial leadership. This advance is not entirely satisfactory to health workers as it concerns only HUCs. Commentary on images of a demonstration of the medical corps of 28 April 2009 alternating with an extract of the speech of Nicolas SARKOZY and with the interview of Professor Olivier LYON-CNEA, neurologist at the hospital of the Pitié-Salpétrière.
