Minister of the Interior Nicolas SARKOZY was welcomed at the National School of the Judiciary by a demonstration of the magistrates' unions. Evelyne SIRE MARIN, national president of the Judicial Union, denounces this visit: "We believe that in a democracy, justice must be free and independent, and Mr. Sarkozy is not the head of justice!" Nicolas SARKOZY replies with sarcasm: "Do you think that it is because I am going to spend 2 hours with these young future magistrates that they will lose their independence?"
