A charter of good driving of the two motorized wheels was signed today between the city of Paris and five motorcycle associations. The aim is to improve the circulation and safety of motorcycles, particularly on the ring road where motorcycles circulate illegally between the queues of cars. The associations also asked for a tolerance to allow two wheels to be parked on sidewalks. Interview with Fabrice VIDAL of the FFMC (French Federation of Angry Bikers): "This charter, for us, today is only good intentions...it will have no interest if the police prefecture continues to verbalize without discernment." Action of the Fédération Française des Motards en Colère: The road code prohibits both wheels from circulating between the queues of cars in urban areas. The association tried to show that this regulation, if scrupulously respected, would hinder the flow of traffic in the city. The FFMC is calling for a change in the texts and is opposed to a policy considered too repressive in this area. The very strong development of the two-wheeler in an urban setting must be an opportunity for regulatory change according to them. 2/3 of motorists would not be opposed to this practice becoming the norm.
