Les réfugiés arméniens sont arrivés à Alfortville dans les années 1920. La communauté s'est structurée au fil des ans, avec notamment la construction de l'église en 1930. Les premiers cours de "préservation de l'identité arménienne" proposés aux enfants de la diaspora ont été à l'origine du projet de la construction d'une école bilingue franco-arménienne. Il s'agit de faire vivre la langue et de transmettre la culture et l'histoire arménienne. C'est Laurent Barsumian, membre du bureau de l'école, qui en fait l'histoire et la description.
