After the presentation of the report of the UN inspectors on the state of disarmament in Iraq, the 15 members of the Security Council spoke on this subject. The French representative, Dominique de VILLEPIN, asked for more time for the inspectors to continue their mission in Iraq. Excerpt from his statement "In this context the use of force is not justified; today, there is an alternative to war, disarming Iraq through inspections... And it is an old country, France, of an old continent like mine, Europe, that tells you this today..." Colin POWELL accused Iraq of continuing to cheat with the UN "We cannot accept that this process is endless ... in the near future we will have to decide whether or not we have reached the moment when the Security Council will have to vote on the serious resolutions related to resolution 1441 ..."
