Two days before the Israeli general elections, Shimon Peres is neck and neck with his opponent Benyamin NETANYAHU in the polls. Benyamin NETANYAHU, the leader of Likud, has been running an American-style campaign for the past three years, the favourite of young Likud and American television, not to mention his religious electorate, even though his programme seems a little thin for his critics. Philippe PEASTER interviews Benyamin NETANYAHU, in the campaign, when he gets into his car, he says "confident in the elections because the Israeli people want peace and security". A Likud activist recalls his background : "he was an officer in an elite unit, Israeli ambassador to the UN, adviser to the Minister of Foreign Affairs... He has the makings of a prime minister".
