Robert Bellé lanceur d'alerte sur les herbicides cancérigènes

Dès 2002, Robert Bellé, chercheur à la station biologique de Roscoff démontre avec son équipe que le Round up et d'autres herbicides à base de glyphosate sont potentiellement cancérigènes. Des résultats confirmés depuis par d'autres chercheurs à travers le monde et corroborés désormais par des études épidémiologiques que l'Organisation Mondiale de la santé. Or depuis 13 ans, le Round up a continué d'être pulvérisé. Le chercheur craint donc la multiplication des cancers dans les années à venir car cette maladie sournoise met parfois 20 à 30 ans pour se développer. Les demandes d'interdiction se multiplient, Robert Bellé espère que cette fois le lobby de l'agrochimie n'aura pas le dernier mot.

Les recherches du CNRS de Roscoff ont montré en 2002 que certains herbicides perturbaient la division cellulaire, un mécanisme semblable au cancer. La firme Monsanto conteste ces résultats. Yann Fichet, directeur technique Monsanto France, affirme que les tests réalisés sur le Round up, désherbant vedette de la multinationale, ont permis de renouveller l'homologation du produit au niveau européen. Robert Bellé, directeur de laboratoire du CNRS, précise que l'homologation a été faite à partir des effets du glyphosate pur, mais que ce dernier n'est actif que lorsqu'il est mélangé avec des "surfactants" comme dans tous les produits commercialisés.
