Unemployment benefit reform: simplification and harmonisation
The law on the reform of unemployment benefits passed by Parliament opted for simplification: the Assedic funds will now be the only paying agencies, and the number of benefits will be reduced to four. These will be: the basic allowance, the special degressive allowance, the guarantee of resources for the unemployed over 60 years, and a flat-rate allowance paid (under conditions) to young people seeking a first job. To this is added a novelty: the compensation will be extended (under conditions, always) to women heads of families, as well as to certain categories of prisoners and defendants.
