Beirut Port Explosion: Solidarity in the Midst of Chaos
Beirut Port Explosion: Solidarity in the Midst of Chaos
In the Lebanese capital, solidarity is organized to help the victims, while the shortage threatens the inhabitants and the hospitals. In Martyrs' Square, food is distributed. A little girl says she came to get help to eat. His mother says their house is destroyed. An injured woman shows her home in which nothing works anymore. She then takes him to his 88-year-old neighbour. She explains that she can no longer eat because she has lost her dentures. In a private hospital, director Sami RIZK, who has just received the first packages of international aid, points out that about 70% of imports into Lebanon come from the port of Beirut. He says he’s very worried about the future.
