On the plateau of France 2, on May 10, 1981, after the announcement of the victory of François Mitterrand in the second round of the presidential election, Monique PELLETIER, who was part of the campaign staff of Valéry Giscard d'Estaing (UDF), said her "great sadness", as chair of the support committees to Valéry Giscard d'Estaing, she thanks all those who supported her. It reacts to the sentence of the outgoing President’s written statement "I will of course continue to defend the essential interests of our country". Above all, she says her "deep anguish": "I am convinced that the Socialists and Communists by voting, knowing what they were voting for... who evidently do not want the changes proposed to them and who are in great danger... of experiencing cruel political disappointments, economic and for the very influence of France"
