Victory of François Mitterrand: reactions of socialist sympathizers

The day after the result of the second round of the presidential election which saw the victory of the socialist candidate François Mitterrand, a return to the enthusiastic reaction of supporters the day before rue de Solférino (seat of the Socialist Party) on this expected and hopeful victory. Flowers are distributed to the supporters and Lionel JOSPIN takes one. A man says: "this is the best day of my life". Some MLF activists think "for women it’s an opening", a man thinks that "it’s wonderful we didn’t believe in it", a woman "I’ve been waiting for this for 30 years". Finally a young man "I am socialist at heart... leaving school I think I can better find a place and not be enrolled in ANPE".
