May 10, 1981 at Chateau Chinon: François Mitterrand facing the crowd in jubilation
The day after the victory of the socialist candidate François MITTERRAND in the presidential election, we return to the evening in Chateau-Chinon, the fief of the candidate. When the result was announced, he tried to leave his headquarters at Vieux Morvan to go to the town hall, without success: the crowd was too dense. He then went up to the roof of the hotel to greet and thank the supporters, joined by his wife Danielle. Then he managed, by car, to go to the party hall for his first statement, before leaving for Paris.
