The bluefin tuna fishing season is preparing in the port of Sète, in Hérault. Martial Lubrano, 32, is the youngest fishing boss of the place and is about to carry out this operation at the helm of the oldest tuna boat, the "Juanico", built in 1969. This fishery, governed by European quotas, lasts only one month and leads fishermen off the Balearic Islands.

Due to the scarcity of fish on the high seas, aquaculture is expanding. This is the case on the pond of Thau, in the Hérault, where faced with the saturation of oyster and mussel farms, ropes 200 meters long and on depths up to 30 meters were anchored to the bottom of the sea off Sète. Mussels and oysters develop very quickly.

Sardine, emblematic of the city of Marseille, is disappearing. The fishermen are worried because they can no longer find sardines in the harbour and they are forced to go elsewhere, much further away. While they unload their crates on the harbour, fishermen testify.

Inauguration of the 1st oyster fair of Bouzigues, in the Hérault, at the initiative of the intercommunale charter "Vines and pond". Shellfish farming has been present in the region since 1925 and represents some 3,000 jobs today.

In the Aude, a new aquaculture unit was created at the site of Leucate. This is a shrimp hatchery, where spawners lay under control by raising the water temperature. The average production forecast for the first year is around 2 to 3 million young shrimp, which can double the following year and reach 15 million juveniles by the third year.
