Report dedicated to the Estates General of the restoration where Christine LAGARDE, Minister of Economy announced the implementation of the VAT at 5.5% for the restaurateurs from 1 July 2009. However, it calls for an effort to be made by restaurateurs on prices and employment. Restaurateurs are committed to lowering their price by about 10%, mainly on coffee, daily menu and mineral water. The government expects 20,000 hires and 20,000 apprenticeship contracts, but restaurateurs have other priorities, such as salaries and investment.
