Ammonium nitrate

Scientific explanation to understand what ammonium nitrate is and the conditions under which it is likely to explode. Interview with Professor Robert ROSSET, from the Ecole Supérieure de Physique Chimie in Paris, in his laboratory. Images of two ammomnium nitrate explosions illustrate his point. In 1947, a French cargo ship exploded in the port of Kansas-city, killing 600 people. Then, the same year, the port of Brest explodes destroying half of the city.
