A La Lanterne, l'établissement balnéaire le plus ancien de Trieste, les hommes et femmes ne peuvent se baigner ensemble. En effet la plage et le bord de mer sont divisés en deux par un mur puis un filet. Une tradition que les italiens, aussi bien femmes que hommes semblent au final apprécier. Pour une baigneuse "on reste ici sans que les garçons nous embêtent", alors qu'un homme se plaint des femmes : "Les femmes sont ennuyeuses, mieux vaut laisser les hommes en paix" .

Women and men have very different days at the campsite. While the woman takes care, between two moments of relaxation, of the dishes and other household chores, a man admits not to participate too much, preferring cycling, fishing, and idleness. He agrees to give a hand though: he wipes the table!
