Demonstration of anti-nuclear environmental activists in Cherbourg

Less than three months after the election of the socialist candidate François Mitterrand to the presidency of the Republic, environmental protesters tried in vain to oppose the sending of radioactive waste from Japan to La Hague, to the screams of "Mitterrand lied". These activists, including Brice Lalonde, sat on the rails to prevent the locomotive from entering the port. They were evicted by law enforcement.
