Colin Powell

A former head of American diplomacy, Colin Powell made history in the United States by becoming the first African-American to hold the position of Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces and then Secretary of State under the presidency of George W. Bush. His political career was marred by his speech to the UN on 5 February 2003 falsely accusing Iraq of possessing weapons of mass destruction. These false statements justified a decade of war.
