The French President Georges POMPIDOU, First Chief on an official trip to the People’s Republic of China, was invited to an official dinner organized by the Chinese Prime Minister Chou EN LAI at the National People’s Assembly according to a very settled protocol. He gave a speech paying tribute to the commonalities between the French and Chinese nations: their long history, the defense of their independence, their political and social revolutions, their mutual esteem for almost ten years after the recognition by General de Gaulle of the People’s Republic of China and Mao ZEDONG.
