Sumptuous welcome by French President Georges Pompidou on a trip to the People’s Republic of China
The Chinese people and its leaders gave an exceptional welcome to Georges POMPIDOU, the first President of the French Republic and the first Western Head of State to be officially received in China. In his residence in Beijing, Georges POMPIDOU met with CHOU EN LAI and TUNG PI WU, President of the Chinese Republic by interim before a dinner at the National People’s Assembly. Speeches were given by Chou En Lai and Georges Pompidou on the points that unite the two countries, the history of this meeting and the future of Franco-Chinese relations.
