Lazare Rachline about his Jewishness

Lazarus RACHLINE says he never considered himself a Jew before the Second World War. He was concerned about the persistence of the Jewish community in Germany or Russia, but experienced anti-Semitism personally only when confronted with racial laws: during his captivity in Germany in 1940, where the German soldiers separated the Jews from the other prisoners of war or on his return to France, once escaped, before the officials of the Vichy regime. In a way, it was anti-Semitism that made him feel Jewish.
