Georges LAUTNER says he owes a lot to the New Wave. Not without irony, he explains that when he started his career as a director, there were many young filmmakers who wanted to remake the cinema and spent a lot of time thinking. Knowing that the producers needed commercial films and he needed work, he made 3 or 4 films, while the others made only one. This is how he managed "to make his hole".
