Mireille DARC and Georges LAUTNER present the film "Dandelions by the root". Hilarious, they confirm they had a lot of fun on set. Georges Lautner also evokes his Nice and Marseilles origins through his mother, the actress Renée Saint Cyr and his grandmother, singer at the Marseille opera.
Interviewed on the set of "Il était une fois un flic", Georges LAUTNER explains that he simply seeks to tell entertaining and humorous stories. He is used to working with the same team of technicians and actors, with people he loves. For him Nice is a perfect place for cinema. In addition to the presence of the Victorine studios, the municipality greatly facilitates the work of productions.
On the occasion of the screening in Lyon of the cult film "Les tontons flingueurs", its director, Georges LAUTNER explains that everything was written and that nothing was improvised during the shooting. Each gesture, each shot, each camera movement was defined in advance and above all, the dialogues signed Michel Audiard prohibited any improvisation on the part of the actors. The last actor still alive, Vanantino VANANTINI, present at this outdoor screening, concludes: "It’s a great film. The lines are exceptional, the actors extra".
Georges LAUTNER considers himself lucky to have been able to collaborate since his beginnings with two great screenwriters Michel Audiard and Pierre Laroche. With his assistants Bertrand Blier and Claude Vital, they loved to listen to the texts of Pierre Laroche. Coming from a film technician training, his encounters with masters of caustics and derision have had a lasting influence on his cinema. Cinephile and lover of American comedies, he opted for a "talkative cinema". He also cites as influence "The white sheik" of Fellini, jewel of derision and humor in his eyes.
Georges LAUTNER says he owes a lot to the New Wave. Not without irony, he explains that when he started his career as a director, there were many young filmmakers who wanted to remake the cinema and spent a lot of time thinking. Knowing that the producers needed commercial films and he needed work, he made 3 or 4 films, while the others made only one. This is how he managed "to make his hole".
Georges LAUTNER is always surprised by the success, more than 40 years after its first release, of his film "Les tontons flingueurs". He remembers that at the time, he and his team were panicked at the idea of shooting for the first time with a big production company. Not well received when it was released in cinemas by some film critics, the film has become cult over time. "We made a film while having fun, and then it continues to make people laugh".
Georges LAUTNER talks about his love of actors. To the question of Michel FIELD, "what do you like in them?" he answers: "everything". Their wickedness and kindness, their kindness and hardness, and especially their fragility".
