The incessant struggle of men against chikungunya in Reunion

A year after the outbreak of a chikungunya epidemic in Réunion, we know a little more about this famous mosquito virus. Despite the demoustication operations, it is still present on the island and extends into the Indian Ocean. According to some experts, it could even one day win European capitals. The struggle is ongoing. Sometimes you have to kill mosquito larvae, sometimes you have to kill adult mosquitoes. The other fight is in the labs. Interviews with Julien THIRIA, Head of Mosquito Control at Reunion Island, Professor André FLAHAULT, Director of the Chikungunya Research Cell and the Minister of Health, Xavier BERTRAND on the first successes of treatment with nivaquine.
